Description
Lonely Mountain are Archie and Finlay Johnson, a duo of brothers from the mountains of North
Wales. Through writing, recording, producing and marketing their own material from the beginning,
the brothers have honed their skills and created a large repertoire of multi-faceted folk music with
influence from a lot of different genres. Their single “Whale Song”, a traditional folk song with
modern energy and rich harmonies has recently surpassed 130,000 streams on Spotify and is
quickly rocketing the band to greater heights with an album in the works and plenty of releases to
come in the next few months. Lonely Mountain are known for combining driving tenor banjo and
guitar parts and impassioned harmonies with cinematic and atmospheric lyrics that evoke
nostalgia, longing and a sense of pride in the mountains and sea that they have grown up around.
They mainly derive inspiration from British, Irish and American traditional folk music like Colter
Wall, Amble and Kate Rusby, as well as modern indie artists like Bon Iver, the Lumineers, Ben
Howard and Mumford and Sons.
